Choice Boards

We want to give teachers examples of choice boards that are used in a blended learning environment. We used to teach Spelling with the old school "Spelling Contracts." The blended learning choice boards are similar in the process, but students are given options of using traditional pencil/paper and computer assignments. Our learners’ brains are as unique as their fingertips-as are their needs. As more districts leverage Google tools and author their own instructional materials, it is critical that materials are universally designed and flexible to support learners' needs. This session explores how to design accessible from the start, how to leverage built-in assistive features in popular 1:1 computing devices, and how to further the accessibility of instructional materials using free extensions, add-ons, and other design strategies. By the end of the interactive session, attendees will understand the importance of designing accessible from the onset, will develop skills to provide flexible learning options in the learning environment, will have specific tools within Google (assistive technology and accessible educational material tools), will practice applying the tools to their materials, and will develop plans for future implementation.
